On 6 and 7 June 2020, as part of the Mining Experience Days, over 30 participating sites invite visitors to discover the 800-year history of the Ore Mountains from Johanngeorgenstadt to Zinnwald. Wherever you go in the region, you still come across the landmarks of each era of mining, and you can see them in action during the Mining Experience Days. If you prefer to remain above ground, you can still trace the mining history of the Ore Mountains on the many well-signposted hiking and mining trails.
Experience the mining traditions of the Ore Mountains, see rare mining technology in action, join special tours down the mines and above ground, or walk the hiking trails in the footsteps of the miners. Mines, mining museums and mining landscapes offer both young and old the opportunity to explore more of our heritage. From Johanngeorgenstadt to Zinnwald, a whole range of organisations invite visitors to come and get to know a major part of our cultural landscape during the “2019 Mining Experience Days”. The “Mining Experience Days” are held on the first weekend in June each year at the same time as the Germany-wide UNESCO World Heritage Day.
