Always on the first Sunday in June, the Erzgebirge take part in the Germany-wide UNESCO World Heritage Day with the Mining Experience Day.
This year, the mining town of Marienberg invites you to celebrate the Mining Experience Day. On 05.06.2022, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the diversity of our world heritage on the market square in Marienberg from 10 am. Mining associations, crafts, art and culture from the 22 World Heritage sites will present themselves on the World Heritage Mile. Young and old can compete in the mining family game and then discover Marienberg and its secrets with the miner Tatock. From 3 p.m., the German-Czech choir meeting will bring music to Marienberg's market square.
Experience the mining traditions of the Ore Mountains, see rare mining technology in action, join special tours down the mines and above ground, or walk the hiking trails in the footsteps of the miners. Mines, mining museums and mining landscapes offer both young and old the opportunity to explore more of our heritage. From Johanngeorgenstadt to Zinnwald, a whole range of organisations invite visitors to come and get to know a major part of our cultural landscape during the “2019 Mining Experience Days”. The “Mining Experience Days” are held on the first weekend in June each year at the same time as the Germany-wide UNESCO World Heritage Day.
