The Georgenfelder Hochmoor is a raised bog in the German Ore Mountains, in Zinnwald-Georgenfeld, not far from Altenberg. It is part of a larger bog or moor complex, that lies to the south, mainly on the far side of the Germany's national border in the Czech Republic. The Georgenfelder Hochmoor is one of the oldest nature reserves in Saxony.
An educational trail leads through the nature reserve, which has been designated since 1926, and in which the characteristic plants of the moor such as the dominant moor pine, cranberry, bog bilberry, various types of peat moss, the round-leaved sundew, vaginal and narrow-leaved cotton grass, marsh rosemary, blueberry and heather grow.
A nature trail leads through the Georgenfeld Hochmoor. From a viewing bridge, the view opens up over Schlenken (pans filled with water and surrounded by cushions of peat moss) and the elevations in between, which are formed by peat moss and are called Bulte. The view sweeps far over the edge marshes and the surrounding unique landscape.
In terms of water management, the Georgenfeld Hochmoor has been important for mining since ancient times.
