Between the first Sunday in Advent and Candlemas, the whole of the Erzgebirge looks like a real‑life Weihnachtsberg (model Christmas scene) – all the houses are decorated with traditional Christmas lights. The warm, white glow turns the region into a magical setting.
Rooms are still decorated with incense‑burning figurines, Schwibbogen candle holders and nut crackers, the traditional pyramids are turning, the comforting smell of incense fills the air, and angels and miners symbolise the Erzgebirge Christmas. The entire region is enfolded in a blaze of light, bringing the promise of hope and optimism.
