Silberstadt Freiberg

Discover the Silberstadt Freiberg

Centrally located in Saxony, at the foot of the Ore Mountains, you will find the silver city of Freiberg. But why go far when there is so much to discover in and around Freiberg? How about an exciting tour with the Silver City Railway through the historic old town, a visit to Freiberg Cathedral or the largest mineral exhibition in the world, the terra mineralia.

A real adventure is the entrance to the Freiberg silver mine. At a depth of 150m you can discover the "underground" Freiberg and experience mining up close. In the city and mining museum as well as the Silbermann House there are great hands-on offers for the whole family. The Johannisbad provides bathing fun in any weather. Embedded in a beautiful landscape, Oederan is located at the gateway to the Ore Mountains. The historically interesting townscape is characterized by the silhouette of the town church. A big attraction for guests from near and far is the "Little Ore Mountains", the oldest miniature park in the world. Here, almost 200 true-to-scale models of famous sights not only of the Ore Mountains are displayed.

Directly in the center of the town is DIE WEBEREI | Museum Oederan, which is one of the most modern weaving museums in Germany. Weaving technology from two centuries offers an insight into the weaving craft. There are many opportunities for active recreation, for example, on the Gahlenz golf course, on numerous well-marked hiking trails, which are also suitable for cycling tours, in the adventure pool or in the family and adventure world.

In the middle of the Ore Mountains, the town on the border with Bohemia offers numerous experiences. Experience hiking, cycling, swimming fun, winter sports and wood art together. Visit four museums, the Variabel theater, the Stockhausen play world and toy manufacturers. Stay with friendly hosts, e.g. in the vacation settlement "Am Bierwiesenteich".

The symbolic figure of the town is the "Olbernhauer Reiterlein". It tells about the history of the toy makers and is present in many places of the town. The little rider belongs to Olbernhau, like the World Heritage Site Saigerhütte or the affectionate name "City of the 7 Valleys". Who counts more exactly will discover much more than seven valleys and who visits the Saigerhütte will discover 22 world heritage components in it. Everyone who buys a product made of original Erzgebirge wood art will find the little horseman on it as a trademark. It is the trademark of the Association of Erzgebirge Craftsmen and Toymakers e.V. Olbernhau - here is a vacation for the whole family!

In Eibenstock there is always something to experience! Great adventure offers for the whole family await you, among others, the "Badegärten" with indoor swimming pool, giant slide and water attractions as well as the riding facility "Am Gerstenberg". It gets exciting in "Wurzelrudis Erlebniswelt", a mysterious adventure playground, which can only be reached with the help of a rocket. The large climbing castle can be conquered via underground passages or a drawbridge, and a fairytale fountain even releases water that can be used to wash out treasures. Things get racy on Saxony's longest all-weather bobsled run with several jumps and constantly changing views. It is also great fun to find your way out of the maze before your parents do. From the observation tower on the Bühl, you also have an impressive panoramic view of the city and the dam.
